The Chevrolet Malibu (known as the Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu) is a vehicle that features in Midnight Club: Los Angeles. The Malibu was introduced to the game as part of the South Central Premium Upgrade. It is a 2-door, hardtop, mid-size car which is classified as a lowrider.
Description[]
The first-generation Malibu was a top-line subseries of the Chevrolet Chevelle from 1964 to 1972, hence being called the "Chevelle Malibu." It was available as a 4-door sedan, a 2-door Sport Coupe hardtop, convertible and two-seat station wagon. The interior used patterned cloth, vinyl upholstery (all-vinyl in convertible and station wagon) deep-twist carpeting, deluxe steering wheel and other items. This interior was more lavish compared to the Chevelle 300 and 300 Deluxe models at the time.
The Malibu SS performance package only came as a 2-door Sport Coupe hardtop or convertible and included more performance-oriented items. These included bucket seats, center console (with optional 4-speed manual or Powerglide transmissions), engine gauges and special wheel covers. The Malibu SS versions were offered with any 6-cylinder or V8 engines used in other Chevelle models
In 1965, the Malibus (and Chevelles) had new grilles, revised tail sections and replaced exhaust pipes. However, they carried over the same basic styling and body styles from 1964, as well as the SS package. The 1965 Malibu SS had a blacked-out grille and special wheel covers, and the top engine option was a 350 hp (261 kW; 355 PS) 327 cu. in (5.4L) V8.
201 models of the 1965 Malibu SS recieved RPO (Regular Production Option) Z16, which included a heavily modified chassis and Chevrolet's new 375-hp 396 cu. in V8. All these models were hardtops, though there were persistent rumors of a convertible version being built.
Users/Owners[]
Two characters drive a Malibu. Doc drives a red Malibu with a license plate of SURFSUP, while Eddie drives an orange Malibu, which can be encountered in the Kenneth Hahn State Park hangout series.
Performance[]
Despite the car having a "283" badge on the front fenders, "SS" badges on the hubcaps and "Malibu SS" badges on rear fenders, the specifications of the Malibu SS-327 (350 HP) have been listed. These specifications are the closest to the Malibu's in-game performance. The use of the 283 badge could have possibly been a developer oversight.
