The Ducati 1098R is a sport bike produced by Ducati from 2007 to 2009. Designed by Gianandrea Fabbro, the 1098R replaced the older 999 and featured various design elements taken from older Ducati sport bikes, such as the 916 and 998, such as a single-sided swingarm and a non-integrated exhaust system. Powered by a 1198cc L-twin cylinder desmodromic engine, the 1098R made 180 hp and had 99.1 lb⋅ft of torque, making the 1098R have the highest torque-to-weight ratio for a bike at the time of release. 1,375 were produced according to numbers provided by the Ducati factory.

It appears in Midnight Club: Los Angeles as part of the South Central Vehicle Pack 2.

Description[]

The Ducati 1098 is a sports bike made by Ducati from 2007 to 2009, in three versions, the 1098, 1098S, and 1098R. The 1098 was succeeded by the 1198 in 2009, though the 1098R remained in production that year. The 1098 shares more design  elements with the older 998 than with its predecessor the 999, such as horizontally placed headlights and a non-integrated exhaust system. Another carryover from its 916/998 heritage is the single-sided swingarm. This return to a more traditional Ducati design has been welcomed by many Ducati fans who criticized the design of the 999.

The Ducati 1098/1098 S/1098 R were available in black, red, yellow and a special edition 1098s in the Italian national flag colours of red, white and green called Tricolore. The 1098 was designed by Ducati designer, Giandrea Fabbro. The 1098/1098 S makes a manufacturer claimed 160 hp (119 kW), 90.4 lb·ft (122.6 N·m) torque, and weighs 173 kg (380 lb). The 0-60 mph time is less than 3.0 seconds and top speed is estimated at 180 mph (290 km/h). The 1098 R makes a manufacturer claimed 180 hp (134 kW), 98.8 lb·ft (134.0 N·m) torque. All these figures give the 1098 the highest torque-to-weight ratio of any production sport bike ever made.

Performance[]

The 1098R is the fastest sport bike in the entire game, outclassing the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-14 performance-wise, with a very high top speed (albeit slightly lower than the Lamborghini Murciélago Roadster and Saleen S7 Twin Turbo), exceptional acceleration and super-sharp handling.

The Ducati 1098 R is notoriously overpowered for it's low cost of $15,000. It has very high acceleration, sharp handling, and can weave through traffic, especially when compared to the more expensive and high-end exotics such as the Lamborghini Murciélago Roadster and Saleen S7 Twin Turbo, especially with all level 2 upgrades, which was done to compensate for it's major weaknesses, such as taking damage a lot faster and easier, being very easy to fall off and taking longer to reset after a crash.

Due to it's extremely low cost, and overpowered stats, many users will use the motorcycle for the rest of the game, provided they can handle it better than other cars, however, it comes at a major cost of being easily damaged out faster, and taking longer to reset after crashes.

The 1098 R is also a good vehicle to use for Goal Attacks due to it's higher stats, provided the player can be careful not to damage the bike more than 25% as it's lighter weight makes it easier to rack up damage.

Usage[]

Due to the sports bikes higher performance which was merely a trade-off for their very low durability, many users can tend to purchase the 1098R or the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-14 once they find it too difficult to win races in a car.

Once the player knows how to handle Sport Bikes properly, they can easily win almost every race, with them having to carefully avoid crashing the bikes, which knocks the player off the bike, taking at least 5 seconds to recover from a crash.

However, the Lamborghini Murciélago Roadster's DUB Edition may be a preferred choice due to it's all-around stats without the higher risks, as the DUB Edition can be obtained from winning the Downtown DUB Tournament.

Visual Customization[]

Trivia[]

  • The 1098R is one of the few vehicles that aren't used by an opponent.
  • The 1098R's upgrade costs erroneously cost the same as the Group 3 Vehicles, despite being a Group 4 vehicle.
  • In the Performance Shop, the 1098R's Jet Kits are erroneously listed as Electronics, despite Electronics being replaced by Jet Kits for Sport Bikes.
    • However, the parts still have a Custom Rockstar manufacturer listed on them.
  • The 1098R's opponent selection without any upgrades is the same AI selection used by the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 (C6) and Ford GT.
